A Classroom Management Idea
One key strategy to good classroom management is planning. It is important to have a plan of implementation for your instructional day. Here's a tip:
If you have Active Inspire or any other interactive whiteboard program in which you can create flip charts, I suggest that you create flip charts that focus on quick skills you can teach or review during those breaks in instruction when you need a quick meaningful filler. Think of them as quick "mini lessons."
Suggested Flip Chart Titles:
The Great Grammar Grind
Resourceful Reading Review
Vocabulary Development
Special Spelling
Definition Dive
Multiplication Madness
Be creative with your chart titles and activities. You can use extra practice activities out of your teacher editions, resource books, practice test questions, graphic organizers, etc. Make charts as specific as needed to promote mastery and proficiency.

This is a good book to have in your professional library. Dr. Peters offer some great advice for teachers and leaders. I am in the process of re-developing my teaching plan and I will use this book as a resource. Once I read this book I jotted down a number of take aways but one that I feel speaks volumn is ..."We must see the extraordinary through ordinay eyes." Educators I challenge you to bring your best stuff every day. We as teachers, leaders, and administrators must "Be all in or be all out" on a daily basis!

Summer Learning 2015
Summer Learning: I attended CTAG 2015 (Closing the Achievement Gap Conference) that was held at Bessemer City High School on yesterday. It was a great experience. I gained a lot from the collaboration among other educators and presenters. I was really inspired by Stephen G. Peters who was the keynote speaker.
This was a great session led by Jornea Erwin. Yes that's me on the far left (back) engaged in an rigor/relevance framework collaborative activity. It was awesome being surrounded by educators from around the state of Alabama.
